FEET International director Ray Smith has spent his entire working life in the tiling industry. Ray’s father had his own successful tiling business and on leaving school at 15, Ray joined his father as an apprentice tiler and quickly gained valuable knowledge and experience working with ceramic, stone, porcelain and mosaic tiles.
Having mastered the art of tiling, Ray put his skills and technical know-how into forming his own tiling company where he employed a team of 20 tilers working mainly within the hotel and fast food sectors. During this time, Ray also worked with Paul Potile at World’s End Tiles researching suitable fixatives for the many new tiling products coming to the market.
With the majority of tiles being sourced from Europe, Ray looked further afield and went on to open his own wholesale and retail outlet selling porcelain tiles imported from the Far East. Amongst many products at FEET International, Ray came across the remarkable Porcel-Thin™ and immediately recognised the many benefits of this amazing environmentally friendly product.
At less than half the thickness and weight of conventional porcelain tiles, Porcel-Thin™ is manufactured in large formats that remain light enough to be handled and fitted by one person and also significantly reduce the number of grout joints. Ray quickly set about proving the product on walls, floors and ceilings in domestic and commercial environments in both interior and exterior situations. Porcel-Thin™ meets or exceeds all of the European UNI EN ISO 10545 tests for porcelain tiles and has come to be accepted as the future of the porcelain tiling.
