Brass Tacks specialise in upholstering and this year (2016), celebrate 30 years in business. We also retail upholstery supplies for the D.I.Y. and professional market UK-wide, as well as garden features, garden statues and a wide range of unusual furniture, bronzes, lighting and decorative items.
Based in Crocketford, Dumfries and Galloway, the business is still owned and operated by Steven and Judith Grimshaw.
Steven entered the upholstery trade straight from school and served a traditional five-year apprenticeship in Cheshire, a county rich with antiques and high class furniture. He gained a wealth of experience and developed an absolute passion for traditionally crafted upholstered furniture.
In 1984, Steven and wife Judith moved north of the border to beautiful Dumfries and Galloway and, in 1986, founded Brass Tacks Upholstery Services.
Since 1987, they have held membership of the Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishers and are very proud to be connected to the industry’s premier association – See the AMU official website for more information.
In 1993, Brass Tacks moved into the current premises in Crocketford where the sale of home and garden items has become an important part of the business.
Steven and Judith between them have over 50 years’ experience in the trade and pride themselves in offering the best possible service to those who appreciate traditional quality combined with total value for money.
Although specialists in high class traditional upholstery, they also undertake modern furniture, contract and bespoke quality work.
