Since the introduction of wheeled containers for the collection of waste, a problem has been developing. The containers should be washed on a regular basis, especially at such sites as restaurants, food factories, hotels, pubs and clubs, as well as domestic household premises.
At present there are two ways of cleaning wheelie bins – the householders DIY or to offer one of the enterprising people now offering this service in the street. But both methods waste our ever-dwindling water resources and discharge effluent into our storm drains, eventually polluting our rivers and water supply. This contravenes Water Authority regulations -1991 Act of Parliament Chapter 11 – Pollution section 85 – which carries a maximum penalty of 20,000 or imprisonment.
